China’s first 0.5-MW desert solar PV power plant to get on-grid in December

China is winding up the construction of its first 0.5MW solar photovoltaic power generating project in the desert area and plans to connect it to power grid in December, according to Li Shimin, an expert with Gansu Provincial Academy of Sciences.

It is learnt that this project involves 35 million yaun of investment.

This solar power plant lies in the desert area of Badanjilin Desert in Wuwei of Northwest China’s Gansu Province, rich in light and heat energy resource.

Statistics show that this area has 3,000 to 3,200 hours of sunshine duration each year.
