Aiming at reducing carbon emission, the Tata Power will make additional investments in the wind power sector to take its production capacity from the present 200MW to 500MW by 2011.“We will be making investments in wind power sector to take the production capacity to 500MW from the 200MW. We have started to concentrate more renewable energy and are planning to increase our production capacity from the present 14 percent to 25 percent in the next couple of years,” said Tata Power managing director Prasad R Menon. He said that the company was planning to reduce its dependency on coal for power generation and to concentrate more on solar, hydro-carbon and gas, considering the negative aspects of global warming.Prasad Menon said that the Tata group was already exporting electric version of the Indica car to Norway and the company was seriously considering to launch it in the country if the government provided financial subsidy to it.“The car, which is being exported to Norway, will cost around Rs 25 lakh in India if it is not subsidised. Anyway, we will be launching the electric version soon in India. We are also mulling over the introduction of the electric version of Nano in the country,” he said.
