Geothermal energy a step closer for Western Australia
“The expected expenditure for geothermal exploration for the 36 permits in the Perth Basin is more than $560million in the next six years,” he said.
“This industry has the potential to provide clean energy to the State’s electricity network and offer innovative solutions for companies to meet their own power requirements.
“Harnessing geothermal energy, for heating and power use, is another feather in the State’s clean energy cap.”

Biomass feedstock energy can be made cost competitive with fossil fuels like gasoline, diesel, oil, natural gas and coal. Using biomass feedstocks like rapeseed oil and used fryer oil can help lower the cost of biomass conversion, and so can the location and an efficient design of the facilities. This will bring the cost of biomass feedstocks energy down to a level which is competitive with other energy sources. When the environmental benefits are added in, biomass waste to energy and fuel is a good idea, but the financial costs need to be lowered before this form of energy becomes widespread.

Debate and suspicion over the proposed biomass plant grabbed the attention of Tallahassee residents in the past few months… but plans for it have been actually in the works for years.
It appears that a search for renewable energy is what led to the proposed biomass plant.
Americans Eager to Reduce Their Energy Use
While saving money is by far the most common reason why people take energy-saving actions – including insulating their attic, caulking and weather-stripping their home, setting their thermostats to more energy-efficient levels, and buying a more fuel-efficient car – large numbers of respondents said they were also motivated to reduce global warming, by the desire to act morally, and by taking energy-saving actions that made them feel good about themselves. By more than a 2-to-1 margin, respondents also said they believe that making changes to reduce their energy use will improve – not diminish – the quality of their lives.

The homeowner would then pay back the loan as a charge tacked onto property tax bills. The idea is that the money from the energy cost savings could help the homeowner manage the loan. If the homeowner moves, the loan would stay with the property.

Locally, Dominion already is building a $1.8 billion power plant in Wise County, largely to meet the energy needs of northern and eastern Virginia. Numerous environmental groups have tried to fight its construction and air-permitting process. They worry about heavy metals in the air and water from burning coal to generate electricity. They wonder if the safeguards will really keep them safe.

V2G technology works based on the theory that the growing use of unreliable renewable energy sources requires energy storage to smooth power output fluctuations. An electric vehicle can use wind power, for example, to charge at night. The grid operator can then use energy stored in the batteries while the vehicle is plugged in to stabilize the grid.
