Wind power almost definite to rise in Guimaras
It’s almost definite that a wind power will soon be established in Guimaras province.
Guimaras Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava said Trans Asia is bent on pursuing the project that can generate around 15 to 20 megawatts.
Nava said if the project is realized, the province will have more than enough power supply and there is a possibility that they could sell the excess supply to Iloilo.
The province is now dependent on the power provided by the National Power Corporation and the Trans Asia Corporation, an independent power producer (IPP).
However, the power rate at present is pegged at P10/kilowatt hour because the Trans Asia is using bunker fuel.
Nava said the wind power will surely usher in cheaper rate.
Meanwhile, the governor is hoping that the P300 million fund that the province has requested and included in the Typhoon Frank budget will push through so that the old submarine cable that connects Guimaras to Napocor’s power plant in Iloilo will finally be replaced.
The submarine cable for several times incurred damages causing power deficit in the province. (PNA)

i would prefer wind power over solar cells coz they do not waste a lot of area;’:

wind power is just as good if not better than solar power. wind power also generates more power per unit area compared to solar;,;

both wind power and solar power are great sources of electricity and they are non-polluting too “;’
