40 scholars from Valencia town complete 8-day Energy Camp 2009

EDC’s Energy Camp has already garnered accolades not only from the scholars’ parents and the company’s host communities and local government units, but more so from the prestigious Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ (PRSP) Anvil Awards and the International Association of Business Communicators’ (IABC) Gold Quill Awards for being more than just a one-time PR project, said Ariola.

It has become a sustainable program that creates lasting results on the beneficiaries’ growth and development.

This year, EDC will have seven Energy Camps for the scholars in its geothermal sites in Valencia, Negros Oriental (two camps); Bacon-Manito, Sorsogon; Tongonan, Leyte (two camps), Kidapawan, North Cotabato (two camps), including one for the teachers in the company’s host schools.

A total of 382 residents of the company’s host communities (220 scholars, 44 teachers and 118 children of EDC employees) will benefit from this project.

Future energy sources pushed

Development of alternative energy sources shows promise as projects start to move from laboratory to “out-in-the-world” trials, researchers at a conference said Wednesday.

Speakers at the Alternative Energy 2009 conference Wednesday at LSU outlined a number of emerging technologies with promise.

Ontario gets in on green energy act

Energy sustainability demands that we shift from dependence on nonrenewables to renewables like solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, wave, and biomass. Energy efficiency and conservation will be important parts of that shift. It’s an inescapable fact. And so, will we continue to deplete the nonrenewables and face the disastrous consequences of climate change and radioactive waste, or will we embark on a crash program to get onto renewables? The choice seems clear.

Americans Eager to Reduce Their Energy Use

While saving money is by far the most common reason why people take energy-saving actions – including insulating their attic, caulking and weather-stripping their home, setting their thermostats to more energy-efficient levels, and buying a more fuel-efficient car – large numbers of respondents said they were also motivated to reduce global warming, by the desire to act morally, and by taking energy-saving actions that made them feel good about themselves. By more than a 2-to-1 margin, respondents also said they believe that making changes to reduce their energy use will improve – not diminish – the quality of their lives.

Clean energy bill expanded across Va.

The homeowner would then pay back the loan as a charge tacked onto property tax bills. The idea is that the money from the energy cost savings could help the homeowner manage the loan. If the homeowner moves, the loan would stay with the property.

Different Clean Air Technologies

Wind is a renewable energy source that emits no pollution. It is the fastest-growing “green” energy in the U.S. and provides light to the Statue of Liberty. Wind farms—clusters of huge windmills—produce electricity by using the motion of their blades to spin a shaft connected to a generator. Experts estimate that the electricity created in 2006 by America’s wind farms will displace some 15 million tons of carbon dioxide. Over five million acres of forest would be needed to absorb that much CO2. Some people oppose wind farms because they occupy large tracts of land and can sometimes harm birds, but most agree that their environmental costs are much lower than those of fossil fuels.

New green technologies receives clean air permit for operation of waste to energy facility

The Company will operate the CAVD at the Palm Harbor, Florida location with joint venture partners to prove out the output models of energy from set amounts of feed stocks. NRGN has a corporate goal of securing large scale plant purchases along with its own plants over the next several months. Each CAVD plant is projected to be based upon a base 50 ton throughput of the waste. The wastes can be combined, but all have achieved or are expected to achieve similar production of oils, gas, and solid output for commercial sales.

Renewable Energy – Sources That Never Get Exhausted

As you can see, there are various renewable energy sources available to us as an alternative to fossil fuels. There are many advantages to them among the most popular being that they will not deplete in supply, meaning they will be around forever. Renewable energy sources are not new. They have been utilized in some way for many years. Unfortunately, low fossil fuel prices have stunted renewable energy’s popularity and growth in the United States. But an increasing awareness of human and environmental concerns, as well as, a need to find non-exhaustible energy sources, will keep it as a mainstay for the future.
